Deputy Manager – Legal & Compliances, Okhla - New Delhi
Job Description:
Purpose of the Role
To manage and oversee all HR-related legal matters, statutory compliances, employee grievances, litigation management, contract administration, and legal coordination for the organization. The role acts as the central point of contact between the company and external legal advisors to ensure legal compliance, risk mitigation, and timely resolution of legal issues.
Key Responsibilities:
1. HR Legal Matters & Employee Relations
- Handle all legal aspects related to employment and labor laws.
- Manage employee grievances, disciplinary proceedings, domestic inquiries, and related legal formalities.
- Provide legal guidance on HR policies, employment contracts, disciplinary actions, and employee separation matters.
2. Litigation Management
- Coordinate and manage employment-related litigations, labor disputes, and legal notices.
- Liaise with external legal counsel for case preparation, documentation, and representation.
- Monitor ongoing legal cases and maintain litigation records.
- Assist in handling statutory authority matters, including labor department proceedings and employee-related complaints.
3. Compliance Management
- Handle legal communications and submissions related to authorities such as:
- Grievance Handling & Redressal Committees (GHRC)
- Employee one-on-one escalation matters
- Labor and employment regulatory authorities
- Monitor compliance calendars and ensure timely completion of legal obligations.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews and recommend corrective actions.
4. Legal Coordination & External Counsel Management
- Act as the communication hub between the company and external legal firms, including Lex Asia.
- Coordinate legal opinions, notices, agreements, litigation matters, and compliance requirements.
- Facilitate information sharing and follow-up with legal counsel for timely closure of matters.
5. Contract & Document Management
- Maintain and administer legal documents and company records.
- Manage MDC, vendor agreements, service contracts, NDAs, employment agreements, and other legal documentation.
- Ensure proper document control, storage, and retrieval systems.
- Review contracts and coordinate with legal counsel for legal vetting.
6. CSR Compliance & Governance
- Coordinate CSR-related legal and reporting requirements received from group companies (YHL).
- Collect, compile, and submit CSR-related data and documentation.
- Liaise with vendors and stakeholders for CSR compliance activities.
- Maintain records and support reporting requirements related to CSR initiatives.
7. Additional Responsibilities
- Support management on corporate governance and legal compliance matters.
- Assist in handling tax-related litigations involving expatriate employees, where required and based on experience and interest.
- Undertake any other legal or compliance-related assignments as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in law (LL.B.) mandatory. MBA will be preferred.
- 5–8 years of experience in Legal, Compliance, and HR-related legal matters.
- Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws, employment regulations, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience in handling litigation, contract management, and legal documentation.
- Prior experience coordinating with external law firms and regulatory authorities.
